PRESS RELEASE:
San Francisco, CA. (Oct 18th 2019) Corporations and organizations in the United States of America have remained complicit in the violations of human rights, in nations like China, in exchange for access to cash-in on revenue from the oppressed populations.
This presents a moral hazard and it’s time to hold those complicit accountable and force them to address current struggles in Hong Kong where people are fighting for the civil liberties and democracy that we, and the NBA, enjoy in this nation.
We, with “Free Hong Kong SF,” will be forming a body of volunteers to distribute 2,000 t-shirts to the public at the Chase Center for the upcoming season opening game of the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco. We are gathering outside of the arena on October 24th between 5:30-6:00pm local time to distribute t-shirts to the public attending the basketball game.
The NBA, and its players, are trying to ignore the struggle of the people of Hong Kong for freedom from the oppression of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) but we are out to encourage the public to wear t-shirts supporting Hong Kong during the games to force the NBA to broadcast our message of support for the people of Hong Kong to an international audience.
The time has come that we stand up against the CCP and its flagrant civil rights abuses. Our corporations have been willing to turn a blind eye to atrocities being committed against law-abiding citizens and minorities in exchange for money. It’s not the American way and corporations need to be reminded.
We want everyone to have the opportunity to join the freedoms that we enjoy in this great nation. No one should be living a life under oppression and censorship, cut-off from what the world can offer in means of education, expression, and self-determination.
